Breast Lift

Breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical operation for excessive drooping (ptosis).

Suitable patients are those whose nipples are lower than the fold under the breast.

Excess ptosis can occur in young women who have not had children as well as after pregnancies.

Breast lift is a major surgical procedure performed usually under general anaesthetic at Blackwood Hospital.

Incisions are usually made around the pigmented area (areola) beyond the nipple and from the areola towards the fold under the breast. Consequently there will be scars on the breasts afterwards. Every effort is made to ensure good healing and the scars, initially pink, will fade with time.

Where more volume is required breast implants can be used. This is usually done as a second procedure after the breast lift.
